Printing
At Ink Professionals, we strive to stay up to date with all of latest and greatest printing techniques, types of ink, equipment, supplies, and even all of the apparel brands and their styles. We have already perfected the “tried and true” methods…now its time for fun.
Below we will discuss our printing capabilities, provide you with information crucial to your orders, and hopefully answer a few questions you may have along the way.
Our Printing Techniques
Spot Color - Spot Color printing uses a limited number of colors to produce a design. Each color in the design requires its own screen. For example, if your design or logo uses red, black, and white then 3 screens will be used. Much of our work is comprised of spot color printing as it is and easy and economical way to customize clothing.
Four Color Process - This technique uses semi-transparent CMYK inks, halftones, and 4 to 5 screens to produce an unlimited number of colors. Four color process printing can be used to create photograph quality images on a shirt. This technique can be costly. We currently only do four color process orders of over 288 units or more.
Indexed Color - Indexed Color printing uses a limited number of colors to produce a design. Photo-like images can be achieved but screen printers are limited to the number of heads on their presses (each head holds a screen, one screen for each color). This technique is great for a design with an illustrated look.
Specialty Services
Private Labeling - For those of you looking to start your very own clothing line, we offer private labeling. We can screen print your logo, company info, care instructions, garment sizing, and pretty much anything else you would like on the inside (back neck) of your shirts.
Hang Tags - Hang tags can add that professional look to your clothing line. We make custom hang tags out of hemp, twine, and a little metal grommet all printed up with your custom design.
All Over Printing - We are able to print on the entire front or back of shirts.
Types of Ink - the fun stuff
We carry a ton of different types of ink that all achieve different effects. Plastisol and Water Based inks are most commonly used and are considered to us to be standards. Below is a list of inks types that we currently print with:
Plastisol - A plastic based ink used on most frequently in screen printing. Very economical.
Water Based - A water based ink also used frequently. Typically more expensive than plastisol. Has a soft feel to the print.
Discharge - Discharge inks remove the existing dye in the shirt and leave behind the shirts natural cotton color (tan or off white). Pigments can be added to the discharge. Discharge has almost no feel to the print.
Foil Transfers - Foil is not an ink. Foil is actually a metallic film applied to a garment with heat and a plastisol adhesive.
Metallic Glitter - Exactly how is sounds…this ink has metallic flakes that sparkle.
Neon - Very vivid neon colors.
Black Light - These inks will glow when exposed to black lights.
Glow In The Dark - They glow in the dark.
Puff - Puff inks will raise up from the shirt.
High Density - These ink will also raise up but produce a very crisp edge unlike Puff inks.
Stone - This ink will produce a rough and cracked print similar to the look of stone.
Reflective - This ink will reflect light. Perfect for road work crews at night.
